Forditáš is a distinctive wine. Even in the world of Tokajis. It’s light, refreshing, and at the same time utterly Tokaji.

How is it produced? The Slovak winemakers hand-pick botrytized grapes. These are grapes that a noble fungus causes to shrivel, which locks a wealth of flavors inside them. They are pressed for the first time, and the winemakers test their character. If the botrytized grapes truly have good potential, the winemakers pour a dry wine from the same vintage over them. And they macerate them again.

Forditáš is therefore only created during this second maceration of the botrytized grapes. This is why it’s lighter than a typical Tokaji wine. It will win over those who love sweet wines as well as those who usually drink drier wines.

The Slovak Tokaji forditáš from 2017 will captivate you with its clear amber color. It smells like juicy raisins and the taste of botrytized grapes will remain for a looong time on your tongue.

It goes well with fruit salads and desserts. But between us: this wine is a dessert all by itself.
