In the northwest of France, in Alsace, there lies a small piece of land surrounded by hills. The protection they afford makes this a landscape predestined for wine. Michel Fonné is growing his vines right here in Bennwihr. He took over the winery from his ancestors and drew upon a tradition reaching back to 1747.

Taste his outstanding Gewürztraminer set comprising 3 different vintages. Sommelier Jan Pánek pro assembled a tasting set from the winery’s most exclusive Grand Cru series, for which prestigious soil in Bennwihr is reserved. Even for this reason alone, each drop is worth savoring.

Take your taste buds on a tour from tones of peach through delicate acidity all the way to exotic fruits.

“I’ve prepared a tasting set for you from a traditional variety from Alsace, made from the highest quality designation Grand Cru. This is what’s called a vertical tasting, in which you’ll recognize how wine from the same vineyards and same variety can vary according to its harvest year and degree of maturity.”

Jan Pánek, sommelier and founder of Via Tempia

What can you expect in this wine tasting set?

2011 Gewürztraminer Grand Cru Michel Fonné

Michel Fonné can be proud of this Gewürztraminer. And all the more because he overcame extreme weather – from 20 degrees below zero Celsius in the winter to strong rains in the summer. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, a vintage of exceptional wine was created. With each drop you’ll enjoy concentrated taste and aroma. Can you distinguish the tones of exotic fruit in it?

2018 Gewürztraminer Grand Cru Michel Fonné

An auspicious harvest and excellent wine. The 2018 vintage was accompanied by atypical weather, but also an unusually abundant yield. Thanks to this, Gewürztraminer was created that’s ideal for archiving.

It’s full of aromas with notes that are even zesty and spicy. In its taste you’ll notice fruit and freshness at the same time. It’s wonderful for an evening with friends.
